Portuguese Black Pottery
This elegant, black cookware is from central Portugal. This sturdy local earthenware, is unglazed, therefore 100% lead-free. It is a high fire flameware, ideal for oven and gas stove-top use. It can take temperatures as high as a pizza oven. Care for your flameware by soaking it in water prior to use to increase the moistness of the dish. Use wood or plastic utensils and non-abrasive scrubber for cleaning. Hand-wash for best results.
I first found these unique cookware pieces at a Farmer's Market in Summit County, Colorado, and have used them for years. Along the way, I have fallen in love with how functional and beautiful they are.
